ABOUT THE BAND

Salsa Caliente was founded at the 20th Century Theater in December 2000. After two months rehearsal, Cincinnati's new "SuperHOT Latin Dance Band" debuted to a large enthusiastic audience in February 2001. The fun continued as the band performed to an even bigger crowd at its next show in April 2001. Then, on June 22, 2001, Salsa Caliente's next "SuperHOT Latin Dance Party" was a total SELLOUT and set a new record as the biggest Latin music event at the 20th Century Theater. Ever.

And -- as they say -- the rest is history.

But nobody wants a history lesson. So how about a few quick highlights...

Maribel Andrade

Originally from Lima, Peru, Maribel sang with popular Peruvian bands before moving to Cincinnati and joining Latin X-posure in 1997 to perform and write songs for their CD, ¿Donde Estas?. She joined Salsa Caliente in 2003 to, as she says, "continue doing what I like best, TO SING!"

Monica Orejuela

"Moni"

Vocals

Moni is also from Lima, Peru. She sang with Maribel for many years before moving to Cincinnati and joining Salsa Caliente as backup (coro) vocalist in 2003. Now Moni also sings lead on many of the songs, including our first English song, I'll Always Love You (by Tito Nieves).

Clifford Adams

"Cliff" / "Gran Perro Rojo"

Piano

Cliff helped establish the band as original pianist and is one of our music arrangers. He reflects: "Salsa Caliente is a win-win situation. Great music, good times, great people on the stage and the dance floor. Plenty of sweat, but never feels like work. I couldn't be more thankful, bendito!"

Brian Siekmann

"Mr. Siekmann"

Bass Guitar

Brian is one of our music arrangers ("Mr. One Page Merengue Man"). He has a Masters in Music from Miami Univ., is the Orchestra Director for the School for the Creative and Performing Arts, and also plays saxophone and performs with the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra.

Nicholas Radina

"Nick" / "El Grillo"

Percussion (Timbales)

A career musician/technician, Nick is also our sound engineer, does audio for many local events, plays cuatro (guitar) in his own band, Zumba, and works with bands such as Tropicoso & Mambo Diablo. He helped launch the local Latin music scene with Bailando Desnudo in the mid 90s.

An original member of the band and Asst. Stage Manager, Dan is also our resident composer, plays flute, baritone sax & soprano sax, sings backup (coro), and is active with various ensembles including Zumba, Los Honchos, PMC Big Band and the Clifford Adams Trio.
